Prior Service Members

Hello folks, I'm new here, hell haven't even been recruited fully yet, but I like to get an idea of the folks I may (or in some cases) or may not get to know in the future.

Anyways I noticed a few people mentioning prior military service or even active. How many of there are you?

I was medically discharged under honorable conditions as a SGT in the United States Army, January of 2009. Just wanting to see if I have any other service brothers and sisters here.

Former US Navy Submarine Reactor Operator/Electronic Technician (no wonder I like being an Engineer in this game) here. Did 10 years active duty on two submarines and three years of that 10 exiled to Pearl harbor. Last 6 years I've been an Electronics Technician First Class (E-6) with the Navy Reserves, with two tours in Kuwait trying to keep the Air Force noobs in-line, supporting OIF, OEF.

I was a 15-J in the Army. Armament, Avionics, and Electronics on the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior. Great little bird. Doesn't look like much but man that thing was the work horse when I was out in OIF 5-7

I'm not ex-military, though I've spent the last 9 years or so working on a variety of military projects for a couple of companies. I'm not as hands on an engineer as I used to be due to experience, which annoys me a little, I spend most of my time doing paperwork, liasing with customers and managing the designline. Owing to things such as the Official Secrets Act, fraid I can't divulge anymore lest the black helicopters appear to take me away

Some years ago when I was still working for Thales I was "stationed", for want of a better word, here;

The red ring is the building I worked in, I'm still surprised to this day that google maps allows you to see the installations.... *shifty eyes* It's Ali Al Salem Airbase in Kuwait...

Dyna Tech is who we worked with when I was at F.O.B. Warrior in Iraq. I was looking at your overhead satelite picture, reminded me a lot of Kirkuk. But then again it was all desert. Grant it Kuwait had that real powdery sand. Thats one thing I'll be glad I never have to go back to. Got into everything.

I was in the Army 19K (M1A1 tank operator). I was in from 1990 to 1994. I would have stayed if I wasn't married, way to many deployments during that time frame. I defenitley respect the guys that are in now.

My first tour in Kuwait was at Ali-Al-Salem. Since we were teh Navy Customs unit were were stuck on the Army LSA (Life support area), but occasionally we went to upper base to hang out with the beautiful people at the people (aka the Air Force noobs)

The sand was one of the major problems, I arrived about a week after the manufacturing team and the main shutter door still wasn't on, lets just say we hand to keep a few shovels to hand lol..

Yeah, the USAF wasn't exactly overwhelmed with happiness about our being there, maybe something to do with the fact we were working for the Kuwait MOD/Air Force....

Bit of both, tho when you have the backing of the countries ruler, you don't need to deal with the BS so much lol

Former E-5 19K here, Honorably out this past December. You have brothers everywhere.

Im in Australian Navy atm working as a electronics technician.

Glad to have met you all! I am proud to have found this fleet. Can't wait for my application to be accepted!

Former 31k Combat communication specialist here. Got E6 twice before leaving honorably.

Tactical Communications Wing,
I did a tour on 3 Sqn and asked to return, this time doing 4 years on 2 Sqn.

I spent a serious amount of time in both Iraq and Afghanistan, averaging 4 months per year.

I only quit when one incident left me with nine small shrapnel wounds in my left arm and leg, and I was the luckiest out of all the people in the landrover. I just couldn't put my wife through that much worry again, even if I do miss the action.

I started as a 31kilo, ended up as a 91 Golf. many years ago. Sometimes i don't even miss all the excitement.

68W Combat Medic, SSG currently serving. Currently a WT with the WTU,AW2 program at Fort Knox,KY. This is my second period of active service, first was 1989 to 1995, now 2006 to present.

Persian Gulf Navy vet here.

USN Vet 3.5 years E-5. ET but basically an IT, Medically Honorable Discharge from an accident on board ship.

98X which is now a 35P - Arabic linguist. Still in training.
