    Delta Recruitment ! Bc81dbe0e2957409e03d96efc244f9d61425686230

War is coming, and recruits are needed for the fight. It's time to sign up to protect the galaxy from the Iconians.

Starfleet, the Klingon Defense Force, and the Romulan Republic have all kicked up their recruiting efforts. New captains in any of these factions will be known as Delta Recruits, and they bring with them the knowledge and capability needed to see to the future of the galaxy.

There will never been a better time to start playing Star Trek Online than during the Delta Recruitment event, which runs from April 2nd to May 21st. Characters made during this time will be Delta Recruits, and they will earn a host of new benefits and rewards to aid them in their leveling experience.

Delta Recruits are specifically designed to rapidly close the gap that exists between new characters and characters that have been in Star Trek Online for years. It’s the most new-player friendly the game has been in almost two years, and the perfect time to join the community of Star Trek Online.

Delta Recruits have a secondary responsibility, and that is to prepare themselves, their crews, and their entire factions for the coming Iconian War. A mysterious benefactor, an experienced captain traveling back in time, will contact all Delta Recruits during their faction’s tutorial and inform them of the opportunities not to be missed during their career. Each faction’s own temporal agency can confirm that what this person said is true, and will guide them using the Delta Recruit window, a new UI element that appears near the Mission Tracker.

Delta Recruits will be playing a parallel story to that of their chosen faction. They have a list of goals that they can achieve at any time, and completing these goals will see them rewarded with equipment, Marks, and other rewards beneficial not just to the Delta Recruit, but to all characters on the same account. Completing the story arcs of your chosen faction will reward you with a unique Starship Trait for all characters on your account: Temporal Insight. This trait will proc a Damage Immunity when you use any Hull Heal on your starship.

Delta Recruits can only be created during the Delta Recruit event. These recruits can be recognized by the Delta Symbol (∆) next to their names. All Delta Recruits will have an inherent bonus trait during the Delta Recruit Event of generating Dilithium Ore upon defeating enemies, a bonus which extends to your entire group. This trait will only be available during this event and will be gone once the Delta Recruitment event ends, so gather your Dilithium Ore while you can!

Additional rewards are gained by leveling up, playing through story content up through the Breen story arc, and finding special Delta Recruit objectives on certain mission maps. Many of the same things that players do while levelling their characters will earn Delta Recruits improved rewards!

Finally, during the first six weeks of the seven-week Delta Recruit event, there will be server wide goals that only Delta Recruits can contribute to, but by accomplishing these goals, they unlock bonuses for the entire server for the whole of the next week of the event! For example, in the first week of the event, every Episode First Run that Delta Recruits complete will count towards the goal. How many First Runs they complete will determine the bonus of the week-long event running in Week 2. You will have either a 1.5x XP bonus, a 2x XP bonus, or possibly even a 2.5x XP bonus for the entire week!

There’s far too many bonuses and rewards available to list them all here, so get ready to make your Delta Recruit (all accounts are getting one extra free character slot), and keep watching between now and April 2nd for more information.

    Discuss in the forums.

They give you a new character slot.

I think I'll make a klingon, just to do the new tutorial, since mine was made before the revamp, then kill him and make a Fed sci, since I haven't played a sci and Fed's have most of the unlocks on my account. My only question is what species?

    Delta Recruitment ! 2ddf17dc31773e1bf05988b55dea75ea1426282052

The recruiting efforts by Starfleet, the Klingon Defense Force, and the Romulan Republic are ramping up. As the threat of an Iconian war looms over the galaxy, there is great anticipation to see all the new officers captaining starships for these three factions.

But Delta Recruits are more than just warm bodies. Tasked with acquiring as much information about the Iconians as possible by an agent from the future, they must piece together a 200,000-year-old puzzle. Delta Recruits on missions will occasionally find additional mission steps asking them to locate something on the map that will help fight a war in the future. Because of this help, the galaxy has a fighting chance against the Iconians.

What does this mean a Delta Recruit needs to do? Well, a key part is hunting down these objectives on these mission maps.

Additionally, the Delta Recruit system will reward you for reaching levels 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 on your character, as well as for reaching level 1 and 5 in any R&D School. You’ll receive relevant rewards in these areas as you reach these milestones, so make sure you are checking your Delta Recruit UI for completed tasks when you hit the appropriate marks.

Being a Delta Recruit means more than just racing up the levels. Recruits who are at least level 30 get a task to join a Fleet. This brings with it some fantastic rewards that will really help Fleets achieve whatever projects they are working on completing.

Finally, there are the weekly server-wide goals. These are tasks that are tracking things done and acquired by Delta Recruits throughout the entire server. Achieve the target number and the next

week a server-wide event turned on so every character (not just Delta Recruits) can reap the benefits for an entire week. Once you hit that first goal though, a new, larger second tier goal will appear. If the server can complete that, the bonuses given in the next week will increase, and a final third tier number can be achieved. Reaching this number will crank up the bonuses in the next week’s event to the max.

There’s a ton of exciting stuff for a Delta Recruit character to do. If you haven’t planned on making a Delta Recruit, what are you waiting for?

    Delta Recruitment ! Fc950c9b41615840a1cb57a9d438f13a1427131540

Delta Recruitment is almost upon us! While this system is an excellent starting point for new players to Star Trek Online, we wanted to take a moment to explain how this system worked in relation to characters you might have created before the event.

First off, time travel is a real thing in the Star Trek universe. So much so that the Federation has a Temporal Investigations agency devoted to it. But it’s not just the Federation that cares about temporal manipulation. The Klingon Empire has their own Temporal Intelligence division and the Romulan Republic has a small group calling themselves Romulan Temporal Defense. Each of these has an agent stationed at their major social hub (Federation is on Earth Spacedock, Klingon is on Qo’noS First City, and Romulan is on the Flotilla.)

These agents will help explain to Delta Recruits the story behind the recruits' mission to collect artifacts and gather intel on the Iconians throughout their careers. For non-Recruits, the Agents will give a bit of history about themselves and their faction’s dealings with time travel.

As Delta Recruits complete the goals presented to them in the Recruit UI, they are earning rewards. Many of these rewards are account-bound, so if you’d like to send them all to other characters, that’s completely fine, and in fact an intended possible use of those rewards. In addition, Delta Recruits will also unlock rewards that can be claimed by other characters on your account.

In order to claim these account-level rewards, you simply need to take your non-Delta character and visit the Temporal agent for that character’s faction. This NPC will have a Store on them that contains all the account-level rewards your alt characters can claim. They can claim any of the account-level rewards earned by the Delta Recruit on the same account. Each of your characters can claim the account level rewards once from the Temporal agent. These rewards include Marks, Equipment, Consoles, R&D Materials, and other items.

While this event is tailored to new players, we know this is a very appealing event for creating alts as well.
We know playing a Delta Recruit is going to be a time investment away from playing your main character. Because of that, we wanted to give your other characters rewards for the time you spend completing Delta Recruit tasks. You shouldn’t feel like you're missing out because you're playing a Delta Recruit.

We hope this encourages new players to take this opportunity to try out Star Trek Online, as well providing existing players with great Delta Recruit experience and rewards. Everyone will get a free character slot at the beginning of Delta Recruitment, so there's no penalty for starting a Delta Recruit character. In fact, you'll be earning bonuses for all your characters throughout the event!

We hope you enjoy our efforts and find the Delta Recruitment system as much fun to play as it was to design and implement.

    Delta Recruitment Rewards

When the Delta Recruitment Event goes live on April 2, players will be given the opportunity to explore much of the existing content of Star Trek Online in an all new way – through the eyes of an important member of the ongoing war effort against the Iconians, and as the sponsored recruit of a mysterious benefactor.

Alongside new mission objectives, dialogue options, and new story options, players will be earning valuable rewards for both their Delta Recruit characters, as well as all characters on their Account.

A few of our primary reward-centric goals when designing this system were:

Bridge the gap between the leveling experiences of a new player vs. that of a veteran that has extensive resources from many years of playing STO.
Reward players’ existing characters for the actions taken on their Delta Recruit, and the time spent playing a character that is not their “Main.”

In the following Dev Blog, we’ll explain how the Delta Recruit system will attempt to meet both of those design goals.

    Bridging the Gap

One of the most daunting aspects of joining an MMO that has been operating for several years is the economic gap between a new player’s ability to earn resources as compared to the vast stores of resources a veteran in that game may already possess. How this typically translates into the leveling process is that a new player has to struggle to keep their gear up-to-date, and afford luxuries and conveniences, while a veteran has it all handed down to them from the mature characters on their account. This process is frequently known as “twinking” in MMO parlance – equipping and supplying a new character with items and currency they could not otherwise obtain on their own.

In an effort to bridge this gap, Delta Recruits will, in essence, be experiencing a form of “self-twinking” wherein completing their specialized Delta Recruit tasks will provide them with substantial resources and rewards, comparable to what an established player would be able to supply to a new character.

Perhaps the most noteworthy rewards which bridge this gap are the free High-Quality Equipment sets you will be granted each time your Delta Recruit reaches a 10-level milestone (Level 10, 20, 30 and 40), as well as a “Reputation Jump-Start” package upon reaching level 50.

In the chart supplied at the end of this Blog, we will outline exactly what rewards Delta Recruits can expect to reap while they progress through the game and event. In addition to the Equipment and Reputation Jump-Start, they will be given large sums of Energy Credits, Dilithium Ore, Marks and more, for completing each task.

    Reward the Account

We know that many (perhaps even most) of our players tend to prefer focusing their efforts on a single character on their account and funnel the vast majority of their available time and effort into progressing and improving that one character. When planning out the Delta Recruit experience, we wanted to try our best to ensure that this type of player will feel as though their time investment is still being rewarded in a manner that meets their preferences.

This is how we arrived at the decision to include Account-Wide Rewards as part of the progression of a Delta Recruit character.

Each time a Delta Recruit completes a particular task, a reward will be added to an Account Store accessible from the temporal agents located at the primary social hub for their faction (Earth Spacedock, Q’onoS or New Romulus Command). Once an Account-Wide Reward is unlocked, that reward will claimable once by every character on the Delta Recruit’s account. This includes characters created after the Delta Recruit event ends!

The majority of these rewards are numeric packages, intended to reward the player on a “time spent” basis. However, there are a few noteworthy rewards that Delta Recruits can unlock across your entire account, including a Starship Trait and unique Ground and Space Devices.

The chart below will detail the rewards that each character may claim, once per character.

    Weekly Event Rewards

In addition to the Character- and Account-centric rewards, Delta Recruits will also be participating in the completion of weekly server-wide goals. Each of these goals is created with the intent of fostering a more thorough understanding of the game’s many features, by encouraging players to explore targeted aspects of gameplay.

Completing each Weekly Goal will kick off a Special Event on the subsequent week. These may include increased XP Gain, Dilithium earnings, and other similar bonuses.

Additionally, each Weekly Goal comes in multiple tiers. Completing the first goal should be relatively simple, and reliably reward all players with an extra mini-event for this easy completion. Completing Tiers 2 and 3 of the same Weekly Goal will require a concerted effort on the behalf of Delta Recruits, but the rewards are also greatly increased.

Only Delta Recruits can contribute to these Weekly Goals, but all characters can reap the benefits they unlock. Complete details of these goals and their associated rewards will be published in future Dev Blogs.

    Subject to Change

As with most of our announcements, please remember that all of the above reward details are subject to change at any time. We will do our best to communicate any changes that may occur between now and the conclusion of the Delta Recruit Event in a timely manner.

    Q&A

Q: What are “Fleet-Only Dilithium” and “Reputation-Only Dilithium”?

A: These are special Vouchers that fulfill the same purpose as existing Dilithium, but can only be used to fulfill Project requirements for the respective features, either Fleets or Reputations. These Dilithium Vouchers does not need to be refined, and cannot be traded for Zen. Projects that require Dilithium will deduct from the appropriate Voucher pool before deducting from your Refined Dilithium.

Q: If I play through the game as multiple different Delta Recruits, will I receive multiple copies of the listed rewards?

A: No. Each account-wide reward is unlocked only once. Once unlocked, every character on your account may claim the associated reward a single time.

Q: Is there a reason to create more than one Delta Recruit?

A: Some of the character-specific rewards, which are granted to every Delta Recruit, can be used to benefit your Fleet. And a few of the rewards, such as the Delta Vanguard Upgrade Techs that are earned upon reaching Level 50, can be sent to other characters on your account once they are earned. It is up to each player to determine if that is sufficient reward for their efforts.

Q: What happens if I create a Delta Recruit, but do not complete all of the listed Tasks?

A: Once a Delta Recruit completes their special Tutorial and receives their “Tesseract Communications Device” they will be free to complete the assigned tasks at any point in the future. Although Delta Recruit characters can only be created while the event is running, there is no time limit on the completion of the tasks, or their associated rewards.

    Delta Recruitment ! 7e57bb1db4f84113378f5db4dc2f53b21427933547

    Greetings, recruits!

As part of the effort to forge an alliance that can stop the returning Iconians and their servitors, all of the galactic powers are encouraging new recruitment efforts to bring additional officers into service. Officers who join as part of the Delta Recruitment program will have opportunities to aid the galaxy and gain great rewards for their service.

Each week as we participate in Delta Recruitment, all new recruits – those characters made during the event and flagged as Delta Recruits by completing the turorial while the event is live – will not only earn extra personal rewards and account-wide rewards from their missions, but they’ll help to unlock bonuses for the entire game. Completing certain tasks will improve the Delta Recruit contribution meter, and this will lead to unlocks of special benefits for everyone!

For the first week of the Delta Recruit event, the contributing event is first-time completion of missions. Every time a Delta Recruit finishes a story mission for the first time, this will contribute to the meter. As the meter hits certain benchmarks, this will unlock progressively better rewards for the following week. Unlocking the initial reward will cause the following week to grant 50% more skill points and expertise to everyone, not just Delta Recruits. Hitting the second benchmark improves this to 100% more skill points and expertise, and hitting the third and final benchmark increases this to 150% more skill points and expertise for everyone for the entire week! And these bonuses apply to specialization points for captains that are level 50 and above!

The only way to unlock these rewards is to make new Delta Recruit characters, complete the tutorial, and play through episodes. Of course, Delta Recruits unlock bonus account-wide rewards, too, so playing a Delta Recruit is advantageous if you already have another character.

    See you at the Academy!

    Delta Recruitment ! 829b900ef4635b83d61b886302eda6591428595274

Delta Recruits are making their way through the various missions and part of that progress includes unlocking the Duty Officer system. As Delta Recruits reach this milestone, they’ll have the chance to use their Duty Officers to assist the galactic powers in preparing for their upcoming struggles.

For the second week of the Delta Recruit event, the contributing event is duty officer assignments. Every time a Delta Recruit completes a Duty Officer assignment, this will contribute to the meter. As the meter hits certain benchmarks, this will unlock progressively better rewards for the following week. Unlocking the initial reward will cause the following week to grant 25% more commendation points to everyone, not just Delta Recruits. Hitting the second benchmark improves this to 50% more commendation points, and hitting the third and final benchmark increases this to 75% more commendation points for everyone for the entire week!

The only way to unlock these rewards is to make new Delta Recruit characters, complete the tutorial, and complete Duty Officer assignments. Of course, Delta Recruits unlock bonus account-wide rewards, too, so playing a Delta Recruit is advantageous if you already have another character.

    See you in game, recruit!

Those posters motivated me so much not only did I enlist but I also bought Ferengi war bonds, I went to Quarks had some fun I went to Quarks I didn't walk I ran. (and yes I kept the coffee mug) I had an overwhelming urge to speak at all my local high schools about why they should enlist. And finally as I crossed a street in times square I grabbed a nurse that was walking in the opposite direction and planted a big fat kiss on her...btw anyone have bail they can loan me?
