Random Romulan-ery Ramblings

The ever menacing Romulans, always scheming, always just outside the range of what can be seen via the torchlight of Federation safety, they're a really fascinating race.

Anyway, for some reason I never bothered to look up why they took that 50 year hiatus just prior to TNG, but now I found out why. It's a short read if you care to look at it, and it covers the darker aspect of the Federation, another of my favourite subjects. In the episode of DS9 that I just watched (The Maquis, Pt 1 & 2) Sisko says that it's easy to be a saint in paradise, which is what he likens the crime, poverty, and war-free Earth to, but the Tomed incident shows there are devils lurking even in paradise.

On a vaguely related side note, I just noticed the Reman covariant shield is now part of a bona fide set, the other two pieces not having been released yet. Hopefully that means we have new Romulan content coming. I'm keeping all my fingers & toes crossed for the possibility of the new content, or at least the C-store, allowing me to own a D'deridex someday.

ya i looked that up today try to find out where the other 2 where but know one know yet even one assume their still coming out, it looks cool i pu that on my sovren and planed to make it plasma because of the look of it (witch is prity cool with reman shield on soviren) and looking at the set with 2 of the 2 it adds i think 20% to plasma torpedoes.

I'm looking at the shield in game right now, and it says the other two pieces are a deflector and engine. The set bonuses are as follows:
