Re: RP idea!
I have an idea how we could start this: Starfleet sends this ship not quite completed it dosent even have a name or registry number. We could go into a back story of how funding was cut after the anti-borg fleet was cut. And we have to finish putting it together and cutomizing it for our needs.

Assault Carrier - Concorde II Class
The Discovery Class looks real good, not sure if anyone has seen the
Concorde Class Assault Carrier. Simply speaking, the CONCORDE-class Assault Carrier now brings together several elements to better transport and deploy assets for engagements where assault forces will be needed in either long term or short term operations - from fighters to Marine troopers.
Just another ship I found while looking for better images of the Discovery class for Avatar/Sig making, and found this Assault Carrier that would be another good option, although the Discovery Class seems to have a better multi-purpose ability.

The CONCORDE-class first can up for development, engineers sat down
with fighter pilots and carrier captain's to get a feel for what
worked in past designs, what did not, and what they felt might make
nice additions.
On looking at the appearance, you will immediately note that the
arrow like primary hull of the ship with it's smooth ventral surface
is unlike most other Starfleet designs. The raised command/Operations
tower at the back and about the primary hull reminds some of a
space going aircraft carrier from Earth's 20th and 21st century,
although the flight decks of this vessel are internal.
Four warp engines grace the CONCORDE with two light cruiser engines
attached to the command tower and two heavy crusier engines beneath
the primary hull.
The purpose of the additional engines in their placement along
with the overall hull design of the ship is that when working in
concert, the design allows for an extended warp bubble whereby
more fighters may ride the bubble onto the battlefield. The same
technology is employed by other carrier designs, but not to the
degree that it is with the CONCORDE-class.
Even with the benefits of her design, the coming of the
HANNIBAL-class carrier with it's 240 fighters as well as the
smaller MIDWAY-class with its 60 fighters have together made
the role of the CONCORDE not as vital a need. As such, production
of the class was halted in 2414 with the class again visiting the
design boards of Starfleet Engineering.
SF Engineering found itself at a crossroads. On the one hand, the
design was no longer needed in the role it had filled for several
years. On the other hand, the design had proven itself time and
time again.
In the end, it was determined that the CONCORDE II-class carrier would
take on a more specialized role with the CONCORDE becoming more of
an "Assault Carrier" capable of transporting a larger array of
resources to the battlefield, while providing the means for deploying
those assets.
Generally speaking, the CONCORDE II-class Assault Carrier will transport
8 Naval Air Squadrons (64 fighters/bombers) for space superiority around
the combat zone, 8 Marine Tactical Combat Squadrons (64 fighters/bombers)
to directly support troops in ground / tactical operations, as well as a
full battalion of Marine (243 soldiers) in addition to the necessary
drop ships, hoppers, miscellaneous vehicles and other equipment necessary
in supporting those troops.
An addition to the design is a fast deployment launch catapult which
allows for fighters to literally be launched from zero to high impulse
attack speeds in meer seconds.
Working in conjunction with the CONCORDE-class will be an assigned corvette
which is generally either of the WALLACE or MAURADER-classes. Berthed in
an interior bay located in the lower secondary hull, the corvette serves
almost as a second set of 'eyes' and 'ears' for the mother ship, extending
the tactical net and command coordination as needed.
Simply speaking, the CONCORDE-class Assault Carrier now brings together
several elements to better transport and deploy assets for engagements
where assault forces will be needed in either long term or short term
operations.

Specs for the Assaut Carrier Part 2
Technical Notes:
----------------
ACHILLES Tactical System - The Achilles Tactical System was first
introduced aboard the original USS SAM HOUSTON, NX-14845.
The project itself has been modified to become an part of
the command and tactical systems of this class starship.
It is extensive enough in itself to require exclusive use
of four of the Cluster-Cores. This design provides an overall
improvement of the local fire control relays as well as the
central fire control system. The current model permits enough
of an increase in automation to require 20% fewer personnel at
current weapon-ready stations.
This system is one of the key components of this class ship's
network of integrated systems.
1) Virtual Command Visor (VCV) - Adapted from the Horvauk
"Command Mask," The VCV is utilized in assisting the ship or
fleet CO with coordinating missions, battles, etc. Although
not a necessary component ship command functions, it does serve
as an alternative means of control.
The visor itself is a thin strip shaped in a U so as to fit
around the back of the wearer's head. Smooth metal contacts
are at the tips which are in contact with the person's temples
allowing the unit to interface with the optical nerves. Other
contact points tap into the auditory and tactile senses.
Sensory input from the device is displayed in the form of
"virtual reality" seen only by the wearer or others similarly
outfitted. The wearer may input or activate a variety of
commands through voice, eye movement, or hand gesture. Uses
for the devise are as follows.
a.) Communication: The wearer can be in instant contact with
other CO's on other ships with the device displaying a small
image suspended in the air in front of the user. Only he can
see it. This can also be used in contacts with awayteams and
even normal communications that might come through via the
main viewer, a terminal, etc. Several transmissions may
occur simultaneously.
b.) TAC Info: The wearer has instant access to current
tactical data on given situations as well as the ability to
plot flight, firing, and combat patterns and have them
immediately transmitted to the proper station or locations.
c.) Virtual Viewer: In this mode while on the bridge, the
wearer can activate this view for a full view of space from
any direction just as if he were outside the ship. This
operates in two modes...(1) he simply turns his head in
any direction for a view as if he were really looking in
that direction. (2) Can manipulate the image through the
normal command modes.
This mode also allows the wearer the option of seeing
through the eyes of equiped members of an away team or from
the perspective of a probe or other ship within the fleet.
d.) Info Retrieval: The wearer has direct access to the
Central Computer system and can pull up needed information.
e.) Multi-Functions: Several of the above modes/functions
can be utilized at the same instant such as a 3-D image of
the battle with tactical readouts as well as the
communications image of another ships CO.
2) Combat Information Center - Located on Deck 2, with a
direct link to ACHILLES Tactical and the C-Core network,
CIC forms the strategic nerve-centre of the CAVALLA-class.
The room itself is oval in shape with the walls lined with
banks of computer consoles and work stations. The center of
the room is open space for the use of the three-dimensional
Tactical Holo-Display. From here the ships within a fleet may
be directed, and during battle the holo-image of the different
sides' positions and relative strengths projected with a
combination of actual force placements mixed with the relevant
stats for each.
This department is concerned with the strategic planning of
battles, both on the starship scale and planetside as well as
matters of supply and the deployment of vessels in peacetime.
In addition, this department handles and tracks intel
information relayed to the ship from various sources. It is
responsible for handling and processing such information as
well as tracking communications.
3) Combat Helm - The helm station on the main bridge of the
Concorde-class starship during special alert modes of the ship
may enter a special mode in itself whereby the helm chair joins
with the helm console and slide levels arise from the chair arms
as well as assorted other controls.
The slide levels control movement of the ship on the 3 deminional
plane allowing the helm officer with use of the ship's DK drive,
the ability to control the ship as one might control a fighter.
The increased control in conjunction with a special visual visor
and ship's DK drive, allows the Concorde-class optimum control
of the ship, giving it the full performance of a much smaller
coverette sized ship.
Firing control can be transferred directly to the helm station
during combat modes.
Positron Inducers - Fire only against unshielded vessels (ie when
you've battered the shields down) disables electronic
equipmesnt in that area (ie Weapons arrays, engines,
sensor pallet...)
DK-2 (Distorted Kinetics, Version 2) - In a permenant deal with DSI,
Starfleet has added DK ability to the NEBULA IV-class.
When active, this system reduces the relative mass of the
ship allowing this size vessel to manuveur the equivalant
of a corvette sized ship.
It should be noted, however, that this drive system must not
be active in areas of great gravitational influence.
SSFI Multiphasic - Sheild arcs can be moved. So if you don't want
any shields at the rear, that arc can be moved to re-inforce
the front shields with some small penalty (ie 1 +1 = 1.
Pointstar Defense System, ?#? turrets : The Pointstar Defense System
utilizes turrets with 3 rotary fire pulse-fire mini-phasers that
operate along the same principles as a machine gun.
Considering that targets of this this system are generally fast in
flight with fighters generally more able to evade standard phasers,
Pointstar can toss hundreds of small phaser bolts per sec into the
path of it's target while tracking that same target.
Although not as powerful as its larger standard phaser cousins, the
sheer number of bolts thrown at a target often can be enough to
overwhelm the shields and hull of targets inbound.

I zoomed in on the underside shot and it looks like hatches at three different areas facing the bow, also looks possible opening on the stern area. i am guessing the large surface area gives it lots of room for all the fighters and shuttles it carries. I also see a large launch tube design on the bow if you look at the lower right image, probably the main exit for the fighters.

Re: RP idea!
I count 55 names on the fleet roster so that means we would need 55 actual positions on the Starship. And we can create a few extra and leave them open for new people coming on board. Obviously I couldn't fill all the positions, might have to get creative here! The positions I have listed are merely suggestions and do not appear in any particular order. And of course there could be more of some postions like Security Officer.

Well, the other issue is, of those names, not all of them are active, let alone involve themselves in RP.
Oh, and the Yellow names on that list, aren't even registered in this forum yet.

Re: RP idea!
That we sure could. After we finish this RP that is currently running, or maybe while we are busy with it, you could post the RP signup for this one, then when we get done, maybe we could do it.
