Yup, and I made a character already (though the name didn't stick and my shirt is smaller than my torso). I plan to delve into the beta this weekend and figure out all the traits and whatnot, plus work my way up to a newer ship than that ancient TOS BoP lol

I've played up till level 10, which is about where you pick which faction you're going to associate with (assuming you play along with the episodes and don't go off and do your own thing).
Can anyone think of a reason to join the feds rather than the klingons? Other than uniform. The fed uniform looks decent. The klingon one from the preview looks like a gimp-suit.
But past that, klingons seem to have the better selection of ships at lower levels (c-store), which means better consoles. Like, being able to grab leach is almost worth the price of admission all on its own. Also, klingons by far have the better selection of doff assignments. All the marauading assignments keep you in contraband which equals dil and EC.

- I didn't like the intro - First off it was your typical run around and talk to half a dozen npc's thing. Then they sent you off to exterminate bugs, which was just too lame for words. Finally some real action starts, but I was still kinda miffed because they railroad you into siding with the colonies/republic. I'd still much rather be playing as the romulan star empire.
Most of the other episode missions I've done were pretty decent. The only other one I could complain about was the one where they send you searching for new romulus. There's a spot on the map marked "new romulus" but you have to search other places first. That's just beyond retarded.
