Ventrilo Use

Looking for some assistance, guys, gals and other. I have the Ventrilo software downloaded and installed and configured but have no experience with practical use. I'm assuming I have to launch Ventrilo before launching game client (da?) then... what? I have headset with mic... I logged in first time with it up and running but heard noone ('course... there might have been noone to hear heheheh)... so any tips for actual use of it would be something this voice chat newbie would appreciate...

You can launch vent before the game but is not necessary. Once you do launch Vent it will run in the backround and you will be able to hear people talking. You will know when other members are on because you will see thier names. For STO I recomend the ~ key for your PTT, for TOR I recomend the left control. For TOR you will have to run vent as the administrator. For more info read this thread!

I hate to hijack this thread, but I used Ventrillo a lot when I played BSGO. I've been trying to find out the details for firefly's Vent server, but the link you posted is apparently outside my permissions for viewing. Do I need to advance in rank to use Vent with the fleet?

right now your still a cadet and not on the roster yet as far as the web sight is concerned so yes it hidden but you should be able too see that at ensign but I'll send you a message about the information soon but its not some thing we want any visitor to see

Just so others know I too am a Vent user (part of what drew me to the Firefly Fleet actually). I'll be another member you'll find on there when I'm playing, if people want someone to chat with.

The Vent server went kaput around 1am Eastern so I fired up my server until Garett and I could finish a few runs to get him to Captain (congrats!). I'm leaving it up for the time being until the fleet vent server is back up and running in case anyone wants to use it. No passwords or channels since it's just the server program running on my desktop computer but it'll do the job well until someone can get the hamsters spinning the wheel again

Okay our Vent server is now up and re-running. The server was restarted with no explanation as to why it went down in the first place.

I'll bet they thought we were discussing selling Twinkies on the Black Market to fund our plans to overthrow Blue Sun and replace it with DRATW Outfitters, LLC. (the new fleet owned company I just thought of while writing this post at work).

Not only were we discussing selling Twinkies on the black market. But also a bastarised homemade version of them called "Browncoat puffs". We had to be stopped!
