If given the ability to have a starbase for our fleet. Where would be the ideal spot to position it?

I agree that all the RP's place it near the bad land we should keep it their, looking at the map I was thinking the Fahleena system.

I think the Badlands is where we should remain. Lots of history and lots of rp since we set up there. If we can eventually build a second base, I would suggest that option.

the game is in sectors not systems.
systems work as mission instances enter one and you in a mission.
bases if any come will be instanced.
with entry bases all around the galaxy like one in sector 003 and another is sector kfr 001 stuff like that.
does anyone play lotr thats how star bases will end up being trust me its the only way it will work and not look terrible.
we cant do it the eve way because systems are mission areas.
thats all and i would put it as close to everything as possible but there will undoubtably be a fast travel to base option

But seriously, the Cardassian government is not entirely stable either in 2409. A change in their government to their old ways would leave the Federation vulnerable on it's backside while the Klingon threat is going on (and would be a great subject for an expansion pack).

Plus, considering all the money interests in the Federation are spending trying to prop up the current Cardassian regime, it stands to reason that Serenity Station would be a logical jumping off point for folks heading that direction.
