What to do to get the interest back?
So looking back I see this fleet is over 8 yrs old and some of us are still here. So I guess my question is how to we bring back the activity? I added some events in game to the calendar there, but this fleet has always been more then that. What can we do to stir the interest once again?

Well I talked to you in game about some stuff already. Like Perhaps participation competition or something to that effect, where the member who attends the most events , and checks into the forums Wins a prize like a lock box key or something. I will provide the reward unless someone else wishes to as well. Hopefully that will help drive some members to be more active both in game and on the forums. It also could help give some new players incentive to join and participate in the forums as well, not only the in game.

The only problem with participation events in game is that all the times that have been added are centred around midnight (plus or minus 2 hours) for me, which is no good as I have work in the mornings (I'm in GMT time zone) and usually shut down by midnight. I could do the ones at 10pm, but they don't roll around till the weekend, which ironically is when I could probably do the midnight one (at least Friday and Saturday) though the later ones are definately out of the equation. But if I'm online, I'm usually up for fleet actions. Be good to have a swarm of Browncoats sweeping across Defera and Talaina is hanging around the Badlands battlezone doing that rep, so she's in the area of Defera anyway.
My point being, there are multiple time zones in this fleet so that needs to be considered for events.

I agree, same problem here (same time zone). Might not make sense to expect Stravik to post one for European times, though, since it's not his time zone so it might not be a convenient time for him. One of us might; don't know what to pick for it to be. Maybe those interested could talk that over at the "shore leave" do on Risa on Sunday - I'm going to try and come to that one, that's the only one that I can make.
Those of us who'd like to come to a fleet event but can't manage most of the ones we have at the moment because of timing, what times are your usual playing times (worked out in GMT, if you can)? When I play it's usually between 4pm and 9pm GMT, any day of the week.
Stravik, those mission reports you did of the events are a great touch, I like the fonts! The medals remind me of this a few months back: https://serenitystation.forumotion.com/t2924-sugestion-thread#47303

Well we could scheduled events for different time zones and have one of the participating officers post the events and attendance. I use to do something similar on a different mmo I use to run, I would have officers with a certain rank given the authority to post, run , and record events that were eligible to receive event prizes. Say Captain and up, That give a fair chance to all. I can see about getting up really early some days to fly with you guys as well as well.

Oh I don't expect stravik to post for GMT. I was just pointing it out. We can also organise other times as well.
Ha, we must just keep missing each other. I usually jump on a little after 9 in the week till 12. Weekends are random. Though Friday and Saturday I can play later as well.

I love the input and I hope to see more of it as we fine tune this engine here. First I would like to say that it is a good thing that you both are in the same timezone. I can work around that and here is what I can do to get you guys going. I will post events for you guys to do for your time zone. If you don't make don't sweat it we are limited on numbers as of right now.
As we get more active and our times change I will discuss more with Pyriel about setting "shifts" or something along those lines. I would love to jam that calendar full of events and have no problem typing up multiple orders for multiple shifts. Right now I see pretty much two different time zones please correct me if I am wrong here.Stunshock wrote:My point being, there are multiple time zones in this fleet so that needs to be considered for events.
HareBrained wrote:One of us might; don't know what to pick for it to be.
So to help with this situation I will issue orders for you guys to get started.
ie. Firefly fleet will report to Earth Spacedock to take on 2 Battalion of troops and transport them to Nukara to facilitate the changing of units on the ground there.
The key points on that are we meet at Earth Spacedock to begin the event and then at say 7pm your time leave spacedock with your "troops" and proceed to Nukara. This is where you guys as a team get creative. I went for the cave or rather the "Tholian Stronghold" Basically we did all the group missions in the cave. After that if your in a STF mood pick one and run it we can come up with a story of why you were there. All I would need to post your AAR "After Action Review" is who was there what you did to include your story (or I can create the story for you) and number of marks achieved.
I have so many thoughts on medals, How the upgraded recommendation will work, when they will be awarded, what they will look like (Thank you Kotsu) and how the medals will stack up so you can earn other cool stuff and a level of prestiage within the fleet.............oh so much to say but that damn TOP Secret title on the envelope. hehehehe look for more in the coming weeks. But know your participation is being tracked already so anything done prior to the medals will count.HareBrained wrote:The medals remind me of this a few months back: https://serenitystation.forumotion.com/t2924-sugestion-thread#47303
That's awesome and that was taken into consideration as far as the time goes as hopefully all of us can be there. This will also be related to informal meeting/ceremony's???????????? damn this TOP SECRET LABEL AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HareBrained wrote:Maybe those interested could talk that over at the "shore leave" do on Risa on Sunday - I'm going to try and come to that one, that's the only one that I can make.
Awesome that will be the format for all future events and I am also poking Pyriel about getting its own thread for each of the Operations. I still need a better idea of what to make the thread look like.HareBrained wrote:Stravik, those mission reports you did of the events are a great touch, I like the fonts!
So for my last trick tonight. I will look into creating missions in STO for us to run as events as well. These will probably be a monthly thing........I hope there is more to come on that as we go. (looks at the back of the envelope in front of him) Oops that had a TOP SECRET LABEL too. (shrugs) had to give you guys something.
Thank you for taking the time guys to give the feedback. This is for all of us and I would love to see more then just the lights on. I know our schedules are very different and relentless (As I look at the event I missed tonight due to RL) But if we stay strong and continue to push through this together we will grow and become a very thriving community again. It starts with us though.

Cool. It'll be nice to get these going regular. I know I've always had fun when I team up with Fleeties.
Oh, and I just want to add, I to love those AAR you do.
If they get popular enough, maybe we could get some Reaver events going as well.
Oh, what time is the Sunday shore leave on Risa expected to run till? I'm out that day, but if I'm back in time, Arwen may put in an appearance.

Re: What to do to get the interest back?
Ive run some really interesting foundry missions that are a great mix of story line and combat, That help add a new dimension and take us to places that normal missions and stfs dont. I think if we find ways to incorporated those it would help keep missions fresh and exciting. I know some of our own fleet members have even worked on making foundry missions as well.

Those AAR's are cool. i like to read them, it makes the game feel more in depth. Plus running with other fleeties is always fun. especially when the boss gets aggravated.

Re: What to do to get the interest back?
I was playing a Foundry mission called "Everybody Comes to Luke's" recently and thought, "This is pure Firefly!" It takes place in a seedy bar on Otha, full of drunk Klingons, and there are many and various shenanigans. Very well written too. Anyone else know any good Wild West-ish missions?

Re: What to do to get the interest back?
I've found another mission for our Browncoat collection - a brand new one, "The Jefferson Secession", shamelessly based on the American Revolution, but successfully so. Another first-class quality one, as good as any Cryptic mission (or better). It's still in Review Content.

Re: What to do to get the interest back?
Great plan Talaina! I've seen quite a few Foundry missions belonging to particular fleets, featuring things from their own fleet's base/adventures/characters etc - it would be fun to have one of our own.
Stravik, in the meantime, what kind of thing do you mean? It's true I've played a lot of Foundry missions so I might happen to know something, but not sure what you're looking for when you say "ground training". Stuff that's got many fights but not too much story, like an STF rather than like an episode? Or what? (If so, I don't think I can help you - I usually seek out the story ones.)

Lol. I've already put the Magpie in. It has to be a Nova, but as the only other UK'er, and basis of inspiration for this idea, the girl had to go in.
