    Which of us specialise in what, in the new crafting system?

    Hello everyone - seems that this section's been quiet since they redid the crafting system.
    Which of us do crafting now, and which "schools" have you levelled up? It would be useful to know, so that we can ask each other for crafting assistance on particular things, the same as we sometimes used to in the old system.

    Also, I admit I haven't bothered with crafting since the change, buit I'm thinking of trying it out, and since I can't work out which school would be most worth having I thought I'd just take one that there's a "gap in the market" here for. Good a way of picking as any.

    On another subject - can anyone craft me a Mk XII Phaser Beam Array? I'll supply materials. Or I have a Mk XII Polaron Beam Array if anyone wants to swap.

    You can buy mkXII on the exchange. That's where I got mine from. Shouldn't be too pricey. It's the MkXIII and the MkXIV that are overpriced.


    As for crafting.... eh, it requires too much dil for me to bother with.

    im gettin back into the game and use to do carfting in the old system but can do any projectont he new system. i have lots of data sample but looks like i need some thing else like we use to need plans now it looks like you need parts and sample but where doyou get parts????? memory alfa is closed you cant even beam down their anymore id like to have Dekkar focuse in sciance and do some other crafting but i can't even get started

    Over the next couple of months, more and more players will reach Level 15 in the various Crafting Schools and begin to craft the Special Items. If you are planning to be one of them, you should start preparing now.
    First, go to the R&D tab and select a school on the left tab. In the upper right hand corner, there is a Filters drop down menu. Change the filter to Show All Tasks. You can then see all the materials and Doff specialties required. Most should be self-explanatory. However, you may find that you do not have a required duty officer, even though you seem to have the right kind. The Doffs may also need to have a specific R&D School characteristic. These are seen if you right-click on them to read their complete Doff info.
    While most of the specialties are obvious, some are not. Engineering, Science, and Shields all have Aegis projects. These require a doff with Aegis R&D School, NOT Engineering, Science, or Shield. The only R&D School: Aegis Doffs I've found are Bind-On-Acquire, and thus unavailable on the exchange.
    There are various ways to acquire these doffs. Except for the Aegis doff, you can get them on the exchange. The commons and Aegis doffs are sometimes rewards for the Request R&D Assistance, and since they are random you have no idea if or what you will get. The VR doffs are drops from the Xindi lockbox, or at least its Duty Officer pack. The release notes also claim that Doffs with R&D abilities will now drop from Duty Officer packs from the C-store.
    The Doffs with R&D specialties can not at present be sorted for on the exchange or in your Doff interface. Thus, you need to know the name in order to find it, or you can do what I did and spend a couple hours looking through specialties sorted by name. Someone must have done this already, as usually even the commons are usually 100,000ec+. Unfortunately, the KDF versions often cost a lot more than the FED versions. So, if you're unlocking boxes, do it as KDF!
    As the demand for these Doffs is going to increase as people reach Level 15, and the supply should remain constant, I would suggest looking for a common doff to save it from being doffcrete. Also, run the Request R&D Assistance as often as possible. Fortunately, going forward, I would expect a more complete set of R&D School Doffs to become available, starting with Delta Rising. Perhaps new projects that use some of these schools are also in the works.
