The Kumari was the first ship of its class, placed under the command of Commander Thy’lek Shran in 2142. More advanced than Earth’s vessels of its time, the Kumari was equipped with powerful phase cannons, a tractor beam, and even deflector shields. Commander Shran utilized the ship to great effect for over a decade, including assisting the Enterprise against the Xindi in the 2250s.

Later, the ship would lead a small defense force consisting of five Andorian ships and the Enterprise in the defense of Andoria against a Vulcan invasion force of over a dozen cruisers.

This iconic Andorian vessel served as a foundation for the development of many later ships, but the Kumari line is a direct improvement over the original Kumari design using the latest developments in Federation technology.

    Design Notes:

Much like the Odyssey is the archetypical Cruiser and the Vesta is the model for the Federation Science Vessel, the Andorian Escort line is designed to exemplify the Escort role. It can deal devastating burst damage to a target – if it can catch them in its forward firing arc. While many other recent ships, such as the Armitage and the Jem’Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier, strike a balance between offensive firepower and defensive strength, the Andorian Escort line focuses exclusively on dealing damage. It’s what players might call a “glass cannon” – formidable offense at the cost of versatility and survivability.

    Andorian Escorts:

Andorian Escorts are focused on intense firepower. With an unprecedented five forward weapons slots, the Kumari line is built to hit enemies hard and fast. One of those weapons slots is for the Andorian Escorts' integrated Wing Cannons, which are among the most powerful weapons ever seen in the Alpha Quadrant, delivering powerful bursts of Phaser energy too quickly for an opponent to recover.

Base Stats (for all Andorian Escorts):

    Required Rank: Vice Admiral
    Faction: Federation
    Hull Strength: 32,200
    Shield Modifier: .9
    Crew: 85
    Weapons: 5 Fore*, 2 Aft
    Device Slots: 2
Base Turn Rate: 16 degrees per second
    Impulse Modifier: 0.2
    Can Equip Cannons
    Equipped with standard Andorian Phasers**
    +15 Weapon Subsystems
    * One fore weapon slot is occupied by Kumari Wing Cannons. This weapon can be removed and replaced by a different weapon, but it cannot be equipped on ships other an Andorian Escort. Only one may be equipped per ship at a time.
** Upgraded Mk XI Very Rare Andorian Phasers may be purchased from the Dilithium Store only if you own at least one ship from the Kumari Line, and can be equipped on any ship.

    Andorian Escort: Kumari Class

    Kumari Escort

The Kumari Class is designed for raw firepower, offering heavy tactical seating and five tactical console slots.

In addition, it is also comes standard with the Phaser Dispersal Array console. The Phaser Dispersal Array console allows your Wing Cannons to charge up and fire a powerful blast that will damage your target and all enemies near your target.

This Console Mod can be equipped in any console slot, but may only be used on Andorian vessels. You may only equip one of these mods on any single ship.

The Andorian Escort: Kumari Class comes with the Kumari Class ship Costume. Acquiring other Andorian Escort starships will unlock additional costume options for your ship.

    Phaser Dispersal Array

Note: Unlocking the Andorian Escort: Kumari Class unlocks this ship for every Federation Vice Admiral character on an account.

Class-Specific Stats (in addition to the base stats listed above):

Bridge Officer Stations: 1 Commander Tactical, 1 Lieutenant Commander Tactical, 1 Lieutenant Tactical, 1 Ensign Engineering, 1 Lieutenant Universal
Console Modifications: 5 Tactical, 3 Engineering, 2 Science
Console – Universal – Phaser Dispersal Array

    Andorian Escort: Charal Class

    Charal Class

The Charal Class offers a balance between offensive firepower and defensive staying power. Compared to the Kumari, it sacrifices a single Lieutenant Tactical bridge officer slot for an Engineering slot, allowing for more defensive versatility. In addition, one Tactical console slot has been replaced with an Engineering console slot, while retaining both Science console slots.

In addition, the Charal Escort comes with the Wing Cannon Platforms console. The Wing Cannon Platforms console allows you to deploy two Wing Cannon Platforms which will orbit your ship and fire on your Wing Cannons’ targets. Wing Cannon Platforms will only fire while you are firing your own Phaser Wing Cannons.

This Console Mod can be equipped in any console slot, but may only be used on Andorian vessels. You may only equip one of these mods on any single ship.

The Andorian Escort: Charal Class comes with the Charal Class ship Costume. Acquiring other Andorian Escort starships will unlock additional costume options for your ship.

    Wing Cannon Platforms

Note: Unlocking the Andorian Escort: Charal Class unlocks this ship for every Federation Vice Admiral character on an account.

Class-Specific Stats (in addition to the base stats listed above):

Bridge Officer Stations: 1 Commander Tactical, 1 Lieutenant Commander Tactical, 1 Lieutenant Engineering, 1 Ensign Engineering, 1 Lieutenant Universal
Console Modifications: 4 Tactical, 4 Engineering, 2 Science
Console – Universal – Wing Cannon Platforms

    Andorian Escort: Khyzon Class

    Khyzon Class

The Kyzon class has the highest emphasis on Science of any of the Andorian Escorts, but retains much of its offensive potency. Compared to the Kumari, the Khyzon has one additional Lieutenant Science bridge officer slot, at the expense of a Lieutenant Tactical slot. It has the most Science-focused Console layout, allowing four Science consoles, but having one fewer Tactical and Engineering consoles slot than the Kumari Class.

In addition, the Khyzon Escort comes with the Tachyon Induction Relay console. The Tachyon Induction Relay console allows your Wing Cannons to fire a powerful Tachyon burst that damages all of your target’s shield facings.

This Console Mod can be equipped in any console slot, but may only be used on Andorian vessels. You may only equip one of these mods on any single ship.

The Andorian Escort: Khyzon Class comes with the Khyzon Class ship Costume. Acquiring other Andorian Escort starships will unlock additional costume options for your ship.

    Tachyon Induction Relay

Note: Unlocking the Andorian Escort: Khyzon Class unlocks this ship for every Federation Vice Admiral character on an account.

Class-Specific Stats (in addition to the base stats listed above):

Bridge Officer Stations: 1 Commander Tactical, 1 Lieutenant Commander Tactical, 1 Ensign Engineering, 1 Lieutenant Science 1 Lieutenant Universal
Console Modifications: 4 Tactical, 2 Engineering, 4 Science
Console – Universal – Tachyon Induction Relay

    Console Set

The Tachyon Induction Relay, Wing Cannon Platforms, and Phaser Dispersal Array can be equipped on any Andorian Escort. Together, they are the Andorian Assault Set.

The two-piece set bonus grants Synchronized Targeting, a passive bonus to Accuracy.

The three-piece set bonus is Wing Cannon Synergy. This allows the player’s deployed Wing Cannon Platforms to benefit from the player’s special cannon abilities such as Cannon: Rapid Fire, Cannon: Spread Volley, and the special attacks provided by the Tachyon Induction Relay and Phaser Dispersal Array consoles.

Wow. This is just beyond broken, it's like transcendentally broken. It goes a long way towards making every other escort obsolete.

5/2 weapon layout AND 5 tac consoles is just absurd dps potential. It's also got a really high turn rate to keep those forward guns in line. Plus all the console slots are offensive powers, and the 2-piece set bonus boosts accuracy passively.

The tac variant with the 5 tac consoles is truly a glass cannon. But even the other variants, with only 4 tac consoles, are going to be more dps than any other ship with the 5 forward facing guns.

Nice stats but I don't think it will prove to be as OP as some think. Compared to the Fleet Defiant we have... slightly less hull points than the defiant... one more forward weapon slot but one less aft. Similar shield support and console and BoFF layout and slightly lower turn rate. The Wing Cannons, from pics I've seen, appear to be more a gimmick than anything really useful. The phaser dispersal array sounds like simply a variation of Cannon Scatter Volley. It may be better but I wouldn't expect it to be "I Win" better.

Compared to the Hegh'Ta BOP we have better hull points and shield support. We have one more forward cannon port and more Tac consoles. BoFF layout is hard to compare as the Andorian has one more slot but the BOP's are all universal. However the BOP has a FAR better turn rate and the ability to cloak in battle (a tricky ability to master but very handy once you do).

The other two ships compare similarly to other ships of the same class.

Also bear in mind that that extra weapon slot will mean greater drain on weapon power. That means if you mount dual cannons once you start firing you will, more quickly, reach a point where there is greater lag between each volley. Make no mistake they are impressive looking ships but I doubt they're gonna be OP game changers. Wink. I do think they may well be the fist ships introduced in this game that I really would have an interest in since the Fleet variants premiered. Also these are Fed ships which means you can't mount a Plasmonic Leech... now THAT might make it a bit OP Wink

Well the wing cannons still count as cannons, so they still benefit from rapid fire and scatter volley. The way I understand, they're going to have similar dps to DHC's, but a slower rate of fire. Much more damage per volley, but with a delay between each shot. So I don't think it's just a gimmick. But even if it turns out to be, you don't have to fit the wing cannons if you don't want to.

I don't think power will be that much of a consideration, cannon ships generally have fewer power concerns than beam boats anyway. It's the same total number of weapons, just one's moving from the back to the front. You're likely losing a turret for a DHC, so you're going from -8 weapon power to -12, a difference of four isn't that huge. I agree, leech would be nice. Maybe it'll appear in a future cross-faction console box.

And I don't really think it breaks the game, it's more I think it breaks escorts. There's not many reasons to fly a different escort over this ship. If you want absolute max damage, this will out dps the fleet defiant and the jem bug ship. If you want something more durable, you can pick up the sci for eng versions.

Like, the fleet patrol escort is one of the tanky escort options. You take the eng andorian version and you can lay it out identically and have the same potential heals, but trade in a rear gun for a forward for more forward dps. Or you can switch to the sci version, still have the same boffs, but exchange eng consoles for sci if that suits you better.

If you're just interested in slugging it out, this ship is going to be a superior choice. You can either go for balanced sci/eng versions so you can tank, or go full-on glass cannon dps with the tac version. The only time it'll make sense to pick a different escort is if you want one with a lt. commander sci or eng slot.

I'm just looking forward to seeing a fleet of these over earth. Though I think everyone should go to Andoria and take photos of everyone over that planet.

The wing guns have a base dps of 298, but do 1117 damage. So they're comparable dps to other cannons, but they only fire about once every 4 seconds.

The accuracy bonus for the 2-piece console set is 10%, so it's the equivalent to a bonus [acc] modifier on all your weapons.
