    Officer Reports

Post by verbena on Sun Dec 16, 2012 4:53 am

Well this has been mentioned in a couple threads, but in case anyone missed it officer reports mission now requires only one foundry mission to be complete, only has a half hour cool-down, and awards 960 dil and 50 fleet marks.

I'd like to have one thread with any useful information about officer reports, including tips, suggested foundry missions, foundry mission reviews, ect.

In that spirit: The "Investigate Officer Reports" mission cooldown starts from the point you accept the mission. So accept the mission right away, then find the foundry mission you want to do, do it, and that entire time the cooldown timer is running. By the time you're finished the cooldown may well be over, and you're ready to go again.

I just did "Space combat battleships" for the officer report.

This sends a stream of battleships, one after the other, against you. As you kill one the next one spawns. There's two for each faction, and several factions. It's pure space combat against battleships. It's relatively short, if you've got good dps.

It's also got another big advantage: those battleships drop mad loot. I got several hundred K worth of EC off the mission. Would probably have gotten even more if I had though to put it on elite difficulty before starting.

There's a few other missions floating around with this same theme; just killing a string of battleships, and the goal was mostly to get EC from loot. With the officer reports changes though, they're not a bad way to get dil/fleet marks either.

Battleship Battle Royal is similar, but done in stages of 4 ships at once, with an optional all in at once at teh very end.

My mission, The Jeroan Farmer Escapade, qualifies as well. I've gone through and fixed what season 7 broke. And feedback is always welcome.

yeah, Battleship Royal Rumble is one of my favorites (when I just wanna something down and dirty). You go thru a first match consisting of (I believe) 3 rounds of 4 ships (including you) each. These are ships from all races and factions and everyone's trying to kill everyone. It's just like a "Royal Death Match" at the Saturday Night "Rassling" Matches heheheheh. The winners (including you) from each 1st match round then compete in the next match of rounds, 4 ships each round. Then the final match with you and the other three winners. After that there is an optional "Death Match" where it's you and everyone else vs. each other... last man (or woman or... whatever) standing. It, also, drops MAD amounts of loot.

However I also recommend trying new and different Foundry missions when you have the time and inclination. With the new setup there's no reason NOT to and the Foundry is FULL of absolutely wonderful missions. Also, if everyone varies there Foundry experiences maybe they won't decide we're "exploiting" and nerf the current setup tongue

Yeah, I completely agree. Though some of those foundry authors are nuts. I mean, when you read the description and they're talking about 2 hours plus play time, starting that up is a big commitment. While I was shuffling through them last night I saw one that said it was four hours, light combat, lots of dialog. And I read that and I was like, "Are you fucking kidding me?" :p

Direlection Duty and Atlas Affair part 1 and 2 are really long ones, but they are good missions. There's alot of extra stuff you don't need to do which cuts it down from 3 hours. Those missions are best if you have time though.

Played The Jeroan Farmer Escapade a week or so back, and only just remembered I was going to post.
Great mission, never a dull moment! Impressively bug-free - just a single Saur named "Attacksaur-Ensign" and "Jeroan" spelt "Jorian" in various places, neither of which matter.
Maybe it'd read better without the brief (and fiendishly hard!) cameo appearance from the Klingons - seems to me that dragging them into it as well as everything else is overdoing it just a little. I mean, there is a whole LOT of everything else in that mission... Very Happy

The Klingon was there to give Ackbrun time and diversion to escape the ship. But glad you enjoyed it.

I updated it the other week, fixing a few things that season 7 messed up (including now the beam out of prisoners and captains! yay!) I'll go back and see if I can also fix those spelling errors at some point. Thanks for the feedback.
