Winter Thingie

So the reward blog for the new winter event is up: http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=775821

The big prize is a Breen ship.

If you do the race thing daily you get 40 autographed Q pictures (which you can also buy via lobi, but why would you?). You need to do the race 25 times during the 35 day event in order to earn enough of the items to trade to some demented ferengi for a the ship.

Stats for the ship won't be released till tomorrow.

It's slightly weird, because they're calling it "Chel Grett Warships" but the npc versions the Chel Grett are cruisers. The "warpships" have a different name.

The NPC Chel Grett's seem to be sci-orientated ships, they have dual cannons but also use Subnucleonic Beam and Energy Siphon. But who knows if the NPC version's stats will have anything to do with the playable? We'll see tomorrow I guess...

I'd get that breen ship and put it on Arwen, but she's only level 3. I fear this will be a level 50 ship. Still gonna try and get some of those costumes for her though.

Looks like Stunshock is finally gonna have a use for those spare Lobi he has, considering nothing else can be bought for 18 Lobi.

The jackets looks pretty sharp. The idea of a cold weather jacket in a bare midriff cut kind of cracked me up. I think Minutus of Borg would look "hot" with a bare midriff, lol.

It comes in a box, but the box binds on pickup. It looks pretty good though:

So it's got cruiser shields, hull is somewhere between a cruiser and sci. It's got a turn rate of a nimble sci vessel. Cruiser 4/4 weapon loadout. But it can fit cannons, has tac-heavy boff layout with two tac officers, one a commander and one a lieutenant.

I really like the way it looks. You can fit dual cannons. Two tac teams, two or three offensive tac powers plus an attack pattern. You can use that universal ensign for engineering, get two emergency to shields plus an aux to structural.

What you basically end up with is a heavy escort that's tanky and can drop gravity wells on people. I approve.

i tryed the race today it can be hard verbena told me jumping or rolling on the Connors helps jumping did not work well for me but rolling did it looks like you have to win 25 times once a day of of the 30 days it will run to get the new ship i intend to get one for vis at lest and probably Dekkar.

You trade in a pile of winter doo-dads to the vendor in the winter pavilion. He's got several versions of the coat and some scarves. You get the winter stuff by picking up snowballs, there's a random chance you'll get the winter stuff. And you can participate in the snowman fight.

Work smarter, not harder...

Go to: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Miscellaneous/WinMacro.shtml

Download/unzip/run the program

Click options. Check "Repeat Playback," Select "Playback Events at my Own Speed," uncheck "Add to Recorded Time," type 12 into the Time Interval Box. Decide how many times you want the thing to loop. Click OK

Type in a name in the field, like "Snowball1"

Press Record, Press the F key, Press the Pause key

Now go stand next to a snowpile in game, alt+tab to WinMacro. Hit the playback button. Sit back while it endlessly harvests the snowpile for you.

Just discovered you can only have 1 winter epoh going at a time. This makes me sad, as I was gonna have Arwen with a whole bunch of little pups following her around.

So what am I meant to do with all my spare epoh tags?

Good question, I currently have two projects running to raise the little critters as well as another to reasearch tags. But I have not seen any other projects or store items thay use them.

I gotta agree with you it would have been cool to have a bunch of them following you around!

I knew there was a thing to turn in epoh's on new romulus for romulan marks. I had really hoped you could do that with the winter ones... The top tier epoh's are worth like 400 marks. But no, you can only do that with the ones found on new romulus, not the special winter ones.

I don't think there's anything to do with the actual epohs, other than use them as a pet. But the tags you can trade in at the GPL conversion unit for 200 GPL for 5. Not the best conversion rate, and GPL isn't the most useful stuff in the game, but better than having a pile of tags and nothing to do with them.

Speaking of Q, does anyone remember a Foundry mission that was spotlighted a few months ago, that began with Q turning up on your starship bridge? I saw it before I'd got the hang of Foundry missions and by the time I had I'd forgotten the name. STO won't let you search for " Q " and searching for "bridge" turns up abut a hundred results.

the PVP race is fix so not more short cut thier and you now need 150 snow men i think they change some weapons some too, i i was told you can put fleet patch on the coats not but i did not try it yet
