Question what if they only have 1

yea I know this one has 2 but what would just 1 be?

Behind the Rear Admiral ?

Looking at memory alpha there is no one framed pip, after Rear Admiral is Captain.

the one framed pip is a commodor we decided to fase them out.

Pyriel is correct. Commodore is the "official/unofficial" rank between captain and rear admiral, but we decided that it would just be easier to not have that "middle man" rank between the leadership and the fleet.

That rank is like turning 20... you are no longer a teenager, but you still can't really do anything yet...

Tis a shame, as Commodore is a very cool souning rank. Of course, in practice, anyone in command of a group of ships would technically be a Commodore, more of an informal distinguisher than an actual rank.

Here is a picture of one of the of the better known Commodores, Commodore Tribble, on board his command ship, the USS Trouble, the only ship in the fleet entirely staffed by Tribbles.

I think the fleet admiral pins should look like this:


Five star Generals do not wear their stars in a row, their stars are in a circle.
I think the same rule should apply here.
