I do admit, the J does look kinda...unstable...and the deflector is, to say the least, over sized. It seems like it was designed to look more like NX-01 than the rest of the Enterprise "family", which all shared a design inherent of the Constitution class.

I dunno, I'm under the impression that sometimes these ship designers,
in a desperate attempt to be different, go a little over board on the
wierdness. It's understand able I guess. I mean I think by this point

Looking at that picture... to add insult to injury, it looks like the windows are all in the celings... I think that would scare me to death not having a chunk of hull on the broad side of the ship but just a thick piece of glass....
