From: Starfleet, Human Resources Command
Subject: Personnel File of Captain Ikari Zaku – Additional notations from Admiral Quinn
Classification: Classified
Name: Ikari, Zaku
Rank: Lt Commander
Race: Vulcan
Birthplace: Unknown (but believed to be born on Earth)
Age: Exact age is unknown
Family: None, foster parents now deceased
History: Records for Captain Ikari start shortly before his enlistment into the Starfleet Ground Forces, Infantry Division in 2370. Prior to that the records are sketchy at best. It is known that he was orphaned on Earth at a very young age when his birth parents, and several others, were killed in a terrorist attack on the Vulcan Embassy in San Francisco in 2224. According to debriefings by Captain Ikari and what our own investigations have been able to compile, he was adopted by a Japanese family by the name of Ikari who had lived in the vicinity. It was the Ikari family who gave him his very non-Vulcan name, Captain Ikari, to this day, claims not to remember his actual name but many have given up on trying to learn this piece of information as he does not act in the typical Vulcan manner. Among the education credits our investigations have been able to find, Ikari Zaku holds a Doctorate in General Physics as well as several Masters Degrees in various Physics related fields from Universities including Cambridge University and Cal Tech.
By 2373, when the Dominion War started; Ikari had earned the rank of Sergeant and had been assigned as part of the 57th Overlanders Brigade. By the end of the war he had earned the rank of Sergeant First Class. During the Dominion War, then SFC Ikari had earned the reputation of being a survivor; making it out of many battles that no one else could have survived. Most of the time he was also able to lead his troops to safety, it was this ability to keep his troops alive that garnered him his rank, all of his Commanding Officers at the time agree that he would get the mission accomplished, even keep the soldiers alive, but they could not stand that he had no problem openly pointing out flaws in battle plans. After much deliberation, we're told, Col. Orbrin decided the only way to deal with this type on Non-Commissioned Officer was to offer him a Commission. During the Commissioning Board one of the board members asked SFC Ikari the question, “Why do you want to be a Starfleet Officer?” The transcript from the board shows the reply as being, “I want my own ship.” It has become a fastly held belief here in SFHRC that Captain Ikari delivered this line as straight forward as it will be read. Officially, Ikari Zaku was admitted into the Officer's Candidate School due to his expertise in scientific fields of study and not because the Officers of the Infantry Division wanted to get rid of him. After completing OCS, then Ensign Ikari, was given the posting as assistant Science Officer of the USS Spork. While serving on the USS Spork, Ensign Ikari was assigned to assist the USS Khitomer during the Borg incursion of the Vega Colony. It was here, it would seem, that the Universe set forth the events that would lead to one of the most accelerated careers in all of Starfleet. Captain Ikari has held command over several Starships and has seen action on many fronts, all the while maintaining his old reputation of being a survivor and even extending that reputation to the survival of his crew. That being said, Captain Ikari also continues the reputation of pissing off every officer over him; which is why he has been reassigned to Fleet Admiral Baumer at Serenity Station as part of the search and rescue Firefly Fleet along with the USS Millenium Spork (Intrepid Class Starship, NCC-92898).
