i keep deleting them, because i'm not much of a crafter, but if anyone wants them, let me know where i can store them so people who want can raid the supply closet for whatever they need

Re: anyone needs crafting materials?
The fleet bank has a tab for materials. Just shove them in there, that's what I do, as I don't do any crafting. Someone else would find them more useful.

In the same sector as K-7, in the South West corner is a system called Fleet Starbase. There is usually a massive crowd of people around it so you know you're in the right spot.

Re: anyone needs crafting materials?
In Eta Eridani bring up your map <M> and go to the System List and choose Federation Starbase... it'll fly you right to it.
I also just place my crafting materials in the fleet bank (after I build up a load). Was thinking about trying my hand at the crafting but I'm just not much good at it and don't have the patience... rather be fighting and exploring... so is there anyone out there who wouldn't mind crafting me an Aegis set?

Also sometimes a Starbase project may require some of those materials!

I believe the Aegis set levels with you... but I may be mistaken in that. You do have to be a high level crafter to craft them, though

Just look at the holdings and go through the projects and if you can find something to donate to go ahead and do that. And we can always use fleet marks!

Re: anyone needs crafting materials?
Is the offer of crafting things still open? I've not done any crafting, the tutorial confused me. But I wouldn't mind getting one of these sets that I keep hearing about. Is things like the MACO gear craftible? I'm guessing that's what the armoured helmets are part of. Or the Aegis set for ships? Is that the best in game? I'm happy to go around collecting up all the stuff that'll be needed for it. Or is the Borg set you get from doing stf's better? Is that easy to gather up, or is it part of the rare drops and no guarantee you will be any closer afterwards?
Or a MkXII Phaser beam array [acc] to complete the set of 6 on the Sentinel? I've spent up buying the other 5. Or maybe it's MkXi. I'll check when I get back tonight.

Re: anyone needs crafting materials?
I've just been getting the hang of crafting myself. I think it basically goes like this: you have to take the various "research samples" (Alien Artefacts and so on) to one of the Research and Development desks at Memory Alpha. (I always struggle to find any of the desks but I get there eventually.)
Then you get a list of what you can craft - I think it's the same at all the desks, correct me if I'm wrong.
The snag is that as well as using up a certain amount of "research samples", each item also requires a different level of the General Research skill. The only things you can craft without any of that skill, or with anything less than 180 points of it, are Large Hypos, Large Shield Charges and Large Power Cells. You gain General Research points every time you craft something, though, so after 18 of those things you can get onto interesting things. (The number of General Research points you gain by crafting an item is shown to its left on the list.)
Some things also use a Schematic; you can buy those from some of the traders at Memory Alpha.
According to the wiki, you can definitely craft Phaser Beam Arrays mark XI - in fact you can get an extra-accurate one if you have some especially fancy samples. Not sure about the other things.

You can also craft the schematics, they're on the last tab I think? But, they're there and you can craft them and crafting them also raises your crafting level.
I don't know, from what I've heard/read, crafting is kinda borked. To craft the good, higher level materials you need dil (in the form of "unreplicatable materials"). In terms of opportunity cost, you're generally better off buying the finished product off the exchange. The costs for the unreplicatable materials is generally as much or more as the cost of the finished product, and that's not even counting the other materials that'll go into crafting, nor the time and materials you spent getting your general crafting to the necessary level.
It works the same way buying the unreplicatable materials for dil; you could just buy them, sell them for EC, and buy the thing you want to make off the exchange and usually come out ahead.
The MACO, Borg assimilated, honor guard, and omega sets are NOT craftable. The only set that is is the Aegis set. Most people seem to feel the borg and such sets are better now than the aegis, but I've not done a side by side comparison of their stats/abilities.

Generally speaking most folks feel that the 3 piece Borg set (console/engine/deflector) along with either the HG or MACO shield is the best all round. I run that combo on both my Kleenex's and it does do well. The big advantage is the Regenerative Shield buff you get with 3 pieces of the Borg set (the Borg shield is a bit low grade compared to HG or MACO). Omega Force is good but generally a bit inferior to HG and MACO. I do run an Aegis set on one cruiser and it's still a good and viable set. I've run STF's with it. It holds up well. Not as well as 3 piece Borg + HG/MACO shield but not that far behind. I also run one ship with full MACO set. That's good, too. (bear in mind all of these are Mk X/Mk XI... no Mk XII yet).

Re: anyone needs crafting materials?
The Borg set is gotten from the standard stf's? I collect those chip things at the end and trade them in at DS9 when I have enough? Same with the MACO shield? I hope I don't have to do elite to get those things.
And I checked. It's MkXI ACC phaser beams. I need 2 more, if anyone has any going spare, I'm willing to trade for something. I don't know what, but I'll trade for something (Exchange is really expensive for those. That's where I got the others from, and it wiped out my EC).
