I imagine most of you know this trick already, but for those who might not, you can indeed set more then 1 weapon facing to auto-fire. It all depends on how fast you can right-click. Until I got into a tier 4 ship I've been playing with all my space weapons enabled to auto fire, and lemme tell ya, it makes the game much nicer not having to worry about pressing the gorram fire button every 2 seconds (cannon cooldown).

All you have to do is right click the weapon's in the HUD in quick succession. If you do it fast enough you'll be able to get 2 to 4 weapons on each for/aft facing lit up with the green auto-fire box. I personally am able to get 3 per side.

Some tips if you're having troubles - first, I have to move my Hud window for the weapons layout closer to the middle of the screen (while i'm setting them, then back to normal position afterwords), as for whatever reason I can click faster there then when the layout is at the bottom of the screen. Second thing to note - it doesn't matter if you're trying to 3 out 4 weapons and get a torpedo auto-fired vs. an energy weapon, as that slot, and not the weapon, will still remain auto-fire, even if you take the weapon out of that slot altogether. Finally, you may want to temporarily increase the hud size (esc->options->[hud/layout, iirc]->hud size, irrc). I increased it to max when trying to get all 4 weaps set to auto, and the window positions go back to where you have 'em previously after you change it back to 1.0 (or whatever you had it at.)

Hope this helps, as I much more enjoy the game when I can devote my full attention to positioning and cooldown usage, vs. having to remember to press a fricken button every 2 seconds (gogo q torps at once per 8 seconds)

Neat, I wasn't aware of this. I'll give it a try, and perhaps my hand can get some rest from spamming the spacebar. Auto-firing - use more then one for/aft. Icon_biggrin

This sounds to me like just another bug. I wouldn't count on it remaining functional for very long.

What I've done is use the key bindings to make one of my mouse buttons activate Fire All Weapons.

you know. 90% of people criticise eve for being "f1 f2 f3" game, and than when sto seems different, all they ask i s autorie after locking target....

[quote]While I can definitely agree with that statement since I hated
Eve. This would still not fall under the same issue. In Eve you also
had the ability to right click and simply orbit a target stopping you
from having to manually control the ship. You also didn't have as many
skills on cool down to watch over (at least not at the furthest point I
got to).I can see the auto-fire having merit in STO while still keeping itdifferent. I would mainly see this little trick being useful forEscorts to fire both front weapons (that aren't torps).

EDIT me sorry. didnt see i have ediot post option, and tried to qoute. fixed it!

Please feel free to post it, L'Val. If they don't allow more hardpoints to be auto-fired by the time I hit T5, or get around to fixing the bug, I'd find the macro helpful.

    Thanks.

Sure, just remember, I binded spacebar to fire all weapons because I'm lazy =P
This one turn on and off the macro by turning on and off the capslock.

Pause::Suspend ; The [Pause] key will act as a master suspend/pause for the script.

~Capslock:: ; The [Caps Lock] key will act as an on/off toggle for auto-fire.
    keywait, Capslock
    If GetKeyState("Capslock", "T")
SetTimer, AutoFire, 500 ; Sets the master intervals in milliseconds - is a thousandth (1/1000) of a second. Default is 500ms, 0.5 seconds.
    Else
    SetTimer, AutoFire, Off
    return

    AutoFire:
Send {Space} ; Sets the in-game bound key to be used in the auto-fire sequence. Default is {Space}.
    return

As much as i agree that evee definitely firing
arcs and segmentated shields ( i would love it) than using orbit on
something other than NPC is sure way to get killed. Especially when
tackling , YOu need to keep eye on trransversal velocity during
aproach, and never approach directly but on eliptical course. otherway
his guns will track you, and ka-blam. yes orbit is usefull option (
especialy when flying 9km/s around 100m long ship. but used mindlesly
contributes only to hateboardspame ( i hate eve, this game sux!). on
the other way you need to check rancge, check your capacitor level, use
battery or nosferatu, keep track on armor/shield and turn on/off the
shield booster or armor repairer, also if you overheat modules ( and it
is VERY Significant boost) you need to keep eye on modules to thwey
wont fry. Fighting in eve is actualy more complicated than is STO, and
untill you get hold of that, you will hate the game probably

I can see the auto-fire having merit in STO while still keeping it
different. I would mainly see this little trick being useful for
Escorts to fire both front weapons (that aren't torps).

    that
is actualy exploit anc cheating. escorts cannons are suposed to be
chainfired, not alpha fired. if you find a way towalk over this , than
    you are just cheating.

Glad I'm not using the exploit or escorts then. But all that stuff in Eve I only barely scraped. Got a bit on the repair and capacitor side, but as soon as I built a good power management system, it seemed to stay fairly simplistic fighting NPCs.

No it's just a way around spacebar smashing. I really don't see why it's such a big deal, why should I've be enforced to constantly and repeatedly hit my spacebar to fire all my weapons (something the game mechanics already let me) while the ability to autofire all weapons at once seems such a taboo.

Given cannon's have a global cool down then yes, being able to fire 2 or 3 at once would count as an exploit. At the higher levels of PvP a massive advantage as well. given the heavies hit for up to 1500 each pulse with the skills up.

I'm not sure why talk of any exploits came up in the first place here. Enabling auto-fire on cannons just eliminates the need to press the same button every second for the entirety of space-combat. Never has there been mention of being able to fire multiple cannons simultaneously/bypassing their shared cooldowns.

This trick is much easier to do if you are lagging.

    My recommendations:

    Do it in Sol system.
Alt-Tab out and try and run five youtube vids at the same time.
GO back to the game and even with the reactions of a sleepily snail, you should be able to activate autofire on all weapons you want.

I have three aft and four Fore weapons done like this.

Just remember to totally disable autofire before attempting to set it for all weapons. There is a check server side that means you cant activate more than one at a time but as there is also a lag/queue system, all valid commands AT THE TIME OF SENDING get activated.

So, lag enough and you can promote your whole away team to commander while you are Lt... (not that I would recommend that action, the autofire is a client side event but exploiting a promotion bug maybe a bannable offence.)
